Parma is a lovely city in the northern part of Italy, a couple of hours driving from Milan.
For sure you have heard of “parmigiano” cheese and “prosciutto di Parma”: both these very famous products are made in Parma province, Probably you have tasted “aceto balsamico” balsamic vinegar that was invented in Modena, a town close to Parma, very well known for its delicious food, opera and for sports cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Parma is not only famous for Parmigiano and Prosciutto but also for “melanzane alla parmigiana” literally translated “eggplants Parma’s style” and home-made pasta like lasagne, gnocchi and tortelli. Home-made pasta is one of the most popular dishes in Italy and is often prepared for special occasions and celebrations. For all these reasons Parma is known as the “food valley” of Italy and is visited by food lovers from all around the world.
Even if many Czechs think that Italians are all fine dining lovers, there are many people who prefer to have informal meals rather than fancy ones. At a “trattoria” you can find authentic Italian food, a good selection of local wines, and a seasonal menu in an informal atmosphere. Maybe you have never heard of the word “trattoria” which is roughly the same concept as French “bistro”: the idea is to serve good food with no frills!
At Salsamenteria di Parma – Prague we serve real Italian cuisine in a friendly and informal setting. We produce all our dishes fresh with 100% Italian ingredients and we ship them regularly to Prague where they are prepared with care and passion by trained staff.
